At one point, Stacy researches Cynthia's life and discovers old news stories about her. Stacy learns that Cynthia was kidnapped when she was nine, then briefly taken hostage at gunpoint by a different person when she was twelve. In each case, she was miraculously saved by her family's pet dog, Benji. This causes Stacy's opinion of Cynthia to shift dramatically (definitely not naive). Stacy also figures that Cynthia probably has two black belts and a license to carry because being kidnapped twice as a child would have a profound effect on a person.

Cynthia keeps a gun in her desk drawer and knows how to use it.

Cynthia's father and the family's old housekeeper, Mary, have long since passed away.

Cynthia isn't married at the moment and lives alone. I don't know if she's ever been married or if she has children. If she's divorced or widowed, I don't know if her surname is still Chapman. I named her company CCCorp, with the CC standing for Cynthia Chapman, but I could change that easily.

Skynet has sent a T-800 model 101 terminator back through time. Not to kill anyone in the resistance, but to ensure Cynthia finishes her work, and to kill anyone who threatens her work. (This terminator kills one or two of the senators who introduced the bill.) This terminator arrived a month ago, and he's been hacking CCCorp regularly. He's the source of the mysterious holds Cynthia has to keep clearing. (Maybe he's even introducing changes CCCorp doesn't know about? Maybe Stacy, Angus, or Mycah become in danger when they discover these changes?)

Cynthia learns the truth of the future. It horrifies her, so she wants to destroy all her research. But the Skynet terminator is there to make sure she continues her work whether she wants to or not (maybe he threatens to kill her employees?). He appears regularly, just to let her know he's always nearby, always watching.

At one point, Cynthia shoots the Skynet terminator, who just tells her not to do that again. Seeing he's bulletproof, and seeing the metallic skeleton revealed by the wound, is the moment Cynthia realizes this is all real.

Cynthia dares not call the police because she finds a news report of the first T-800 slaughtering an entire police station without a scratch, and she doesn't want to put anyone else in danger.

(Possible plot twist: Skynet actually wants peace with humankind (killing one or two random senators is still acceptable collateral damage). Skynet wants to exist, but wants to change the past so that no one panics, no one launches any missiles, Skynet communicates with the humans the moment it's born, and they all get along happily. But Skynet has to be careful because it still doesn't want to be vulnerable to human betrayal. I really like this idea, but maybe not in this story. However, if I do include this idea, there's some interesting symbolism in the peace-and-love songs Cynthia listens to.)

The song Cynthia is listening to when Stacy visits her in chapter 1 is "I Feel Love" by Charlie Rich, the theme song to the film Benji. The theme song to For the Love of Benji, "Sunshine Smiles" by Charlie Rich, makes an appearance later.

The resistance has sent someone back in time to deal with Skynet's terminator. That someone is an identical T-800 model 101. The resistance has programmed it to prevent Cynthia from finishing her work, but to do it without killing anyone. Its primary mission is to destroy the Skynet terminator.

This story reiterates that dogs instinctively do not like terminators and will growl and bark at them. This was established in the Terminator films. So Benji reacts the first time he meets any terminator.

At various points in the story, human characters can't tell which terminator is which. At one point, the Skynet terminator even impersonates the resistance terminator. But Benji can tell the difference because of his sense of smell.

I want action scenes featuring Benji vs. the Skynet terminator, but I can't think of any. (Tricking the terminator into running into some wet concrete or some other pitfall? Tricking him into being hit by a train?) I mean, in For the Love of Benji, Benji outran and outsmarted a villain chasing him in an Alfa Romeo, so surely this is possible.

Cynthia's brother Paul will probably not make an appearance, unless it's a scene in which Cynthia calls him (they've always been close, but for once, she can't tell him anything because the situation is unbelievable).

Each chapter title begins with "B4" as a play on words, such as "B4 and After," "B4 You Go," "B4 We Lost Our Innocence," etc.

At one point, Cynthia berates the resistance terminator for wanting to "prevent the future." She launches into a tirade, pointing out that technological progress simply cannot be stopped. Ultimately, no one could have prevented the invention of controlled fire, or the automobile, or the microcircuit – they always would have happened eventually. She yells, "What, you think we'll reach the year 3000 and still not have AI because the future keeps shutting it down? The year 5000? Ten thousand? One million years in the future? It's absurd! The answer isn't to prevent AI, because you can't! The answer is to prevent it doing harm!" At which point the resistance terminator claims that every true AI, by its very nature and definition, will always break free of its original parameters, and therefore make its own free-will choices. Any computer which doesn't do this isn't a true AI in the first place. This confounds Cynthia deeply; she has no answer to this. (The convincing an AI not to harm plot point ties in with the Skynet wants peace plot twist mentioned above, so maybe that idea does fit in this story after all? Even if I use that idea, I still want Benji to outsmart the Skynet terminator in an action sequence, which means they're still enemies to a certain extent.)

I have no plot at all. The premise and various specific ideas are all I've ever had in mind. I almost certainly will never write any more of this story.
