For my main Earth 2 page, I wanted a high-resolution photo which showed the natural, unspoiled beauty of our planet. In particular, I wanted a photo of a forest with pine trees and green grass, because I believe the scene in which the main characters step onto G889's surface for the first time is the most beautiful in the entire show.
I wasn't having any luck looking through random photos. Nothing seemed exactly right. Then it occurred to me that maybe a professional had taken high-quality photos of the beautiful scenery in the Jemez Mountains, which is where that scene was filmed. Instead of looking through random landscapes for something which looked vaguely like Earth 2, why not look for photos straight from the actual place?
I looked, and it didn't take long to find exactly what I hoped for. Professional photographer Ron Reznick had taken high-quality, high-resolution photos of the Jemez Mountains. They were for sale, and they were perfect. The forest of the Jemez Mountains has a distinct look which is absolutely unmistakable as the setting for Earth 2.
The photos were all lovely, but one in particular had everything I wanted within a single frame: stream, grass, rocks, trees, and sky. I purchased the highest resolution possible. I don't remember what I paid, but I think it was around 70 dollars. The photo is titled "East Fork of the Jemez River - Jemez Mountains <> Santa Fe National Forest - Los Alamos - New Mexico." I am so grateful Mr. Reznick took this photo, as it is exactly everything I needed.
The photo set doesn't appear to be available any more, although you could contact Mr. Reznick and ask, if you are interested.
